A farmhouse featuring sections dating back to the 16th century is also the site of two small museums. The former domestic wing houses a museum celebrating the local culture of farm living, while what was once the farming wing now serves as an exhibition space dedicated to Angelika Kauffmann and a series of temporary exhibitions. Both museums are accessed via a foyer that separates the two wings and features an open truss. Here, the old log wall of the domestic wing forms a wonderful contrast with the new additions made of silver fir. The rough-sawn floor leads through to the large hall, which is conceived as a room within a room: this ensures that the specific room climate requirements for exhibiting artworks can be met while making as few interventions as possible in this listed heritage site. Glazed panels on all sides reveal the old outer wall and the structural elements added later.
