The old mountain farm located on the border of Egg in the Bregenzerwald region contains a stable building, a house and a facility for the processing, tasting and management of dairy products. It now also boasts a much-needed extension, which consists of two structures arranged parallel to the slope so as to minimise the amount of backfill and disruption to the terrain.
These new buildings differ in terms of their size, their volume and indeed their function. The front structure boasts an inviting, spacious entrance area and houses the farm shop, Alpine dairy and ripening cellar. A connecting bridge offers access to the stable building facing the slope. The modern stables feature exposed concrete walls, spacious south-facing windows and a horizontal weatherboard made of spruce. In addition, the hay drying area and hay store are located between the stables and the roof.
The gallery level overlooks the Alpine dairy, stables and milking parlour, enabling integrated guided tours. Visitors are only permitted to explore a series of designated areas, thereby preventing any interruptions to the workflow. In the stables, the goats are even able to access the gallery via ramps – with visitors permitted to feed and pet them.
