On June 12, 2008, a badge was affixed to his favorite bank at the Schwarzwasserbach in memory of the stay of the French diplomat André François-Poncet (1887-1978). In his diary, on May 13, 1944, he noted: “I linger on a bench, situated above a waterfall, the landscape seems to be designed by a gardening architect, or an 18th-century painter.” Poncet was one of the very few diplomats whom Adolf Hitler met with respect and respect. Nevertheless, he was interned in 1943 in Itter Castle near Kitzbühel and afterwards in the Ifenhotel in Hirschegg. From 1943 to 1945 he wrote a diary there, in which he recorded the political world events, but also encounters with the people in the valley from his point of view and commented. This diary has now been published in German with the title “Diary of a Prisoner: Memories of a Century Witness”.
