Located below the municipal centre on a sunny slope, St. Gerold priory enjoys a rich history dating back nearly a thousand years. Starting in the 1960s, it underwent a gradual conversion into a seminar and culture centre run by a monastic community. It is now known far and wide as a haven of tranquillity and interaction.
The most recent phase of expansion began in 1994 with the redesign of the cemetery, the crypt, the reception area in the main building, the wine cellar and the courtyard. As loam was the primary material used, whether in the form of loam rendering or solid packed loam, the renowned loam builder Martin Rauch played a key role in this process. The riding hall was erected a few years later as an intricate timber construction designed by Hermann Kaufmann, whose architectural firm is also in charge of the comprehensive renovation that began in 2014. This project focuses on the renovation and expansion of the adjacent building (old shed, stables, hostel building) with the aim of establishing a modern dining and seminar facility. It also involves the addition of a connecting building that features a kitchen and offices and provides barrier-free access to the guest car park for the first time. The interior design is characterised by subtle materials connecting the old and the new.

At the monastery gate there is a small selection of meaningful and monastic gifts in the monastery shop.
Guided tours on various topics are possible with advance notice. For example: a tour of the provost lasts 45–60 minutes, the new tour takes 75 minutes.
