  • Impressive round trip from Schönenbach around the Mohrenkopf. You mostly walk in the shadow at Diedamskopf, but you have a beautiful view over the Bregenzer forest. The tour leads across the Unterspitzalpe, Almiguntenalpe and Osterguntenalpe back to Schönenbach.

    Schönenbach is an alpine settlement that still conforms to the local three-step farming tradition. The hike leads to the alpine region north of Hirschberg (1834 m) and Diedamskopf (2090 m).

    At first, we hike to the Vorderen Unterespitzalpe (farmed dairy) and further to the isolated area of the Almisguntenalpe that is located in a cirque underneath the steep Diedamskopf. Falling rocks regularly cover up valuable pastures. The tour leads back to Schönenbach via the Ostergruntenalpe. All pastures are farmed and spoil their guests with all kinds of homemade alpine delicacies such as snacks, cheese, milk, butter and drinks. The Stoggertenalpe even serves a homemade ice-cream. In 2014 the Jagdgasthaus Egender was built in Schönenbach and now provides traditional meals (e.g. Kässspätzle, self-hunted game dishes) while the alpine dairy Schönenbach near the bus station offers snacks, cheese, butter and drinks.

    You can stay overnight at the Jagdgasthaus Egender in Schönenbach.

    Another highlight of this tour would be the additional climb up to the top of the Hirschberg. Additional hiking time of 2 hours (2 km and 480 m of altitude).

    Achtung Weidevieh: Im Allgemeinen sind Kühe harmlos, dennoch sollte den Tieren mit Respekt begegnet werden. Mutterkühe verteidigen ihre Kälber. Verhalten Sie sich ruhig, halten Sie Distanz, achten Sie auf das Verhalten der Mutterkuh. Halten Sie Hunde immer an der Leine und gehen Sie möglichst weit von der Herde entfernt. Im Notfall Leine loslassen.

    Wanderausrüstung für leichte und mittelschwere Wege, gutes Schuhwerk mit Profilsohle, da einige Wege durch Wald führen und ev. auch nass sein können.

  • Wegbeschreibung

    You get to the parking lot of the alpine settlement in Schönenbach (1025 m) via a toll road. A small creek meanders through the beautiful plain that is located between the mountains. Via a hiking path you get from the parking lot to the gravel path that follows the Usterguntenbach (creek). After a short bit, you take a left to the Unterspitzalpe (dairy). You walk around the Mohrenkopf and thus reach the cirque of the Diedamskopfes with the Alpine Pasture Almisgunten. After about 20 minutes you get to a narrow path that takes you over a mountain ridge and down to the newly build mountain hut of the Stoggertenalpe, the tour’s highest point. The view over the Bregenzer forest is stunning. Via the Osterguntenalpe you get back towards Schönebach. Via the creek you walk downhill back to the tour’s starting point.

    Bregenzerwald L200 bis nach Bezau, auf der L28 nach Bizau und über die Mautstraße nach Schönenbach zum Parkplatz.

    Von Mitte Juni bis Anfang Oktober gibt es eine Buverbindung ab Bezau (Linie 36).
