Enjoy the hike into the valley along the stream to the beautifully situated alpine inn Bad Rothenbrunnen in the Gadental valley.
From Buchboden, the trail descends a few meters in altitude to the Lutzbach stream. Here the hiking trail now leads along the brook into the valley. Past the first parking lot, we hike further along the Lutz to the rear parking lot where the Madonnabach flows into the Lutz. Here we turn right and follow the hiking trail to Bad Rothenbrunnen. The hiking trail is also possible with baby carriages. Returning you can take the other way (gravel road) to the first parking lot and then hike back along the same path towards Buchboden.
Do you want to shorten the hike? Of course you can also hike comfortably from the hiking parking lot to the Alpengasthof Bad Rothenbrunnen in about 10 minutes.
The Alpengasthof Bad Rothenbrunnen is an ideal starting point for numerous walks, easy hikes or even more difficult mountain tours. Quite enchanting, for example, is the short hike up to the primeval Gadenalpe at 1,317 m above sea level, which lies in a breathtaking basin below the Gadner and Diesner Gschröfs.
The Bad Rothenbrunnen inn, an old spa house built in 1834, with its garden, a small chapel and a fountain, is a place where time seems to have simply stopped. Once upon a time, thanks to the ferruginous, reddish-colored water of the Matona stream, whose source can be visited very close to the inn, people were busy "kurturing" here. The inn is the starting and ending point for a variety of larger and smaller hikes.
